End of Break

After juggling classes to co-op for the past four-and-a-half years, it turns out that winter break has always been my longest stretch of time off. Once I graduate, I will have to face the fact that these month-long holidays aren’t very realistic. And so this year, even more so than years past, I have truly appreciated my break. I can hardly believe that it is already drawing to an end. But what I do know is that I have thoroughly enjoyed perfecting the art of doing almost nothing for a month.

What have I been doing since my last final exam? Well, I watched the first two seasons of the TV show Sherlock on Netflix (it’s a really great show, and I highly recommend it). I saw Les Miserable with my high school girlfriends. I played with my dog. I completed a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle (one of my favorite things to do). I finished A Game of Thrones novel. I spent time with my family on Christmas Day and on New Year’s Day. I downloaded a bunch of games and apps on my new Kindle Fire. I truly have done nothing but spend time doing the things I don’t always get to do during classes or while on co-op.

But now that classes start in less than a week, I think I’m ready. I am ready to end my last semester with a bang, to get into a new routine, and to make some changes. I love having time off, but that can’t last forever. So, I’m lucky to have something exciting to jump back into when the break is over. Here’s to a great semester!

Movies on the Pier

Hoboken in the summertime is a nice place to be. To take advantage of this wonderful setting, I decided to try out one of the many free events the city offers to residents. So this past Wednesday I went to “Movie Night on the Pier”. It was so picturesque sitting picnic-style in the grass with a warm summer breeze, Manhattan twinkling in the background, and a movie playing.

Unfortunately the movie started late this particular day. And since I had to get up for work early the next morning, I wasn’t able to make it through the whole screening. But honestly, that slight hitch didn’t bother me because the whole experience was so nice. While lying back on the blanket, I was even able to see a few stars through all the light pollution.
