I made sure to have a great weekend due to the fact that I'll probably be in the library for the next two weeks.
Friday: Boken Night #3
Nore Davis, Julian McCullough, and Greg Giraldo all performed at the New York City Comedy Night held in Debaun Auditorium. Julian McCullough was my favorite, but all three did a great job.
Saturday: BEACH SWEEPS
In my opinion this is one of the most fun service events we get to do in APO, and it basically entails driving to Point Pleasant early in the morning and cleaning the beaches for a few hours. We were lucky that it was an absolutely gorgeous day and that one of our fellow brothers lives 10 minutes away from the beach, so after we were done cleaning we drove there to hang out and enjoy the beautiful day. We took turns relaxing on the hammock, paddle-boating, and for the more enthusiastic... playing(singing?) ABBA singstar and High School Musical: Sing It! on Playstation 2.
BOKEN: Upon arriving back from the beach, I went down to Boken's Boardwalk. Usually the River lot is full of cars, but for this one day, it was full of booths with games, carnival rides, cotton candy, popcorn, lemonade, balloons, and all sorts of things. It was amusing to watch Hoboken residents walk past with puzzled faces. For our APO Booth we did a play off the plane landing in the Hudson, called "Hero on the Hudson", in which we would give prize money to people who could "engineer" a paper airplane and then throw it into our cooler of water, like Sully... but not really. When the time the drawing came you could feel the excitement, and see the loops and loops of tickets that some people had to keep track of. The grand prize was a flat screen 42" tv... and one of my best friends ended up winning it! I still can't believe that happened, but I'm definitely going to directly benefit from this win.
Sunday: APO & Food?
Another beautiful day. My APO family decided to have a brunch/picnic in the morning. We had breakfast burritos, french toast casserole, fruit salad etc... We just sat in the sun and hung out for a while. At night we had our end of the year APO Awards Dinner, at which we celebrate the graduating seniors. I'll miss my Big :(
Only one more week of class. My word.
