How is lipstick made?... Well, after this summer I can tell you that!
I was fortunate enough to land an AMAZING internship with L'Oreal USA this summer.
I could not have asked for a better internship. I am working in one of the many manufacturing plants in the US (most of which happen to be in New Jersey which is great for me!). Any mechanical engineer would be in heaven if they were able to tour the plant. All of the machines and lines that are producing thousands of pieces per day is really a sight to see!
Another sight to see would be my attire for work, including steel toed boots, a lab coat (with my name on it :D ), safety glasses, and a hairnet.
Things I have learned:
I have used troubleshooting and problem solving
techniques that I have used in many of the classes I have taken. A big part of being an engineer is knowing
how to solve problems in creative and innovative ways.
Also, I have really learned the importance of COMMUNICATING! Public speaking and talking to upper management is key. In order to be able to give presentations and effectively convey what your goal is, you need the confidence to go in that room and know what to do. In many of my classes (particularly my humanities), I was given a crash course on what and what not to do while presenting.
Anyways, I'm only half way through my internship and I'm sure that I have plenty more to learn and contribute!
