My sister and I are certified USA Field Hockey Officials... and this past weekend we officiated the USA Futures Field Hockey Regional Tournament in New Jersey.
This tournament is the culmination of the Futures Program (a program that my sister and I competed in high school). In essence, the Futures Program is a developmental program that is the pipeline to the National Team. In essence, the better and older you get, the higher in the ranks you can get.
The training builds up to this tournament. There are selectors who pick the top players from the state to represent New Jersey in the National Tournament.
Anyways, it was nice to dust off my whistle and get to watch hockey of girls who are under 16 (Saturday session) and under 19 (Sunday session).
I got to see some great hockey and it made me EVEN MORE EXCITED for our season to begin!
Despite the little bit of sunburn I got, it was definitely a successful weekend.
