BSU's Black History Month Culture Exhibit!
Every year when February comes along, I know I'm going to learn something new about Black history. But this year I actively participated in helping others learn some of the great accomplishments by Black scientists and inventors. Tonight, the Black Student Union (BSU) held a "Black History & Culture Exhibit" on the 2nd floor of Howe. We all worked really hard last night in the library making the posters pretty, and we got lots of help from other organizations. The event was a success!
Anne represented her Haitian heritage with a table full of Haitian culture:
Yola represented her country of Belize in a detailed poster of Black inventors and scientists from Belize:
BSU's president Cameryn focused on the discrimination Blacks faced even after the abolishment of slavery:
NSBE members highlighted some of less famous African American teachers, philanthropists, inventors etc:
The pretty yellow one with red glitter is the one Trevor and I did : )
And my personal favorite is Kurtis Watkins' artwork display:
Kurtis, also the Area Coordinator for the Office of Residence life, is a real artist!
You should really check out some of his work -- It's beautiful
is where it is!
Happy Black History Month!!
